BIOGRAPHIE

JEKYLL WOOD takes us on a haunting, sophisticated and bewitching interior road trip, on the frontiers of chill-rock, progressive pop and acoustic electro-folk, at the crossroads of the worlds of Ben Howard, Tamino, Radiohead, John Mayer, Sting and Half Moon Run…

The Tourangeau songwriter sweeps across the entire spectrum of indie music, from folk to electro-rock, without ever losing sight of one vision: that of an artist who seems to travel through musical strata, from the oldest to the most recent, from the most visceral to the most avant-garde.

The result is songs that are accessible, demanding and ultra-melodic, as if they were cleverly and skilfully blurring the sometimes artificial divide between underground and mainstream.

His tour will resume in 2025, with live performances of tracks from his 3 EPs “Smokescreen” , “Blinding Fog” and “Away from the clouds”. [EN ECOUTE SUR DEMANDE]as we await the final album from this trilogy, featuring several Feats and a few surprises…

"Between vintage rock and classy pop, an astonishing concentrate of ultramodern sounds, flirting with the coolness of electro and the classicism of compositions drawn from irreproachable know-how."

"Her new EP testifies to the charm of her pop, which borrows from electro, folk and rock: the melodies and delicate arrangements gently impose their delicate sophistication.
A great success.

“JEKYLL WOOD’s music is seemingly hybrid, as if the brilliant musician had decided not to choose between vintage rock, classy pop, pure blues and a more experimental approach.
This eclecticism could largely alter such an ambitious approach.
And lose the music in an excess of references.
But this is not the case.

“Smokescreen” is an astonishing concentration of ultramodern sounds, flirting with the coldness of electro, and the classicism of compositions drawn from impeccable craftsmanship.
The EP deploys a sonic palette that is both broad and coherent, sweeping across the entire spectrum of indie music, from folk to electro-rock, without ever losing sight of its vision.

An artist who seems to travel through the musical strata of rock, from the oldest to the most recent, from the most visceral to the most avant-garde.
The result is songs that are both accessible and demanding, as if they were cleverly and skilfully blurring the sometimes artificial divide between underground and mainstream.

A year after the bluffing “Smokescreen”, Jekyll Wood returns with the second piece in his trilogy of EP’s. “Blinding Fog” keeps up the pace, exploring airy, almost graceful pop. Strong melodies with intimate flights of fancy come to strike us gently. Jekyll Wood handles atmospheres with great ease, and knows how to make images flash by while listening to her creations. “Blinding Fog” alternates elegantly and disconcertingly easily between melancholy – soft or deep – and ecstatic moments. Jekyll Wood titillates the groove of her folk and injects it with a light dose of electronica. It all adds up to a feeling of lightness that grows longer and more intense as the listening progresses. All we have to do now is wait patiently for the conclusion of this superb trilogy!” Home Cooking Share

“The new opus from Touraine artist Jekyll Wood is a rare beauty from every angle.
It seems built to inspire us with images, to take us quietly into his film, in stages, with a style of writing close in its lyricism to the great hours of progressive music, while being fully and by its very nature an expression of its time, that of an artist in perpetual evolution who, after having accustomed us to remain stunned by his stage performances, offers us with this work a fine opportunity for at-home tasting.

“Blinding Fog” digs the same furrow as the previous EP, ultra-melodic electro-rock.
Always on the edge of a music between two states, it deepens its beautiful ambivalence, between shadow and light.
The music here is extremely subtle: melancholy and uplifting at the same time, or both in the same movement.
Jekyll Wood succeeds even more clearly in showcasing his immense talent as a composer in the service of songs that are ever more ethereal, ever more sensitive.
More mysterious too.
If we recognize the influence of Radiohead, we also see it melting into a universe of its own, giving way to songs forged in high-flying pop, projected into a luminous modernity.
Jekyll Wood’s EP is sonic and dreamy, with an addictive groove.
